Better social workflow through RSS

Reeder App

Here’s a really quick tip for a nice way to build a nice little social media workflow using, of all things, RSS.

If you haven’t noticed it yet, it’s not really enough to just shout about the stuff you’re selling on Twitter. It’s all about conversations right? That, and finding people who’re doing things that might have some kind of mutual feeling with your thing.

Try using Reeder, or your other favorite RSS reading app to subscribe to a stack of blogs in your related industry. Ensure chosen blogs have authors that are on Twitter, and find said Twitter accounts. Rename each of the blog titles in your RSS app to their @Twitter_Username – now you’re perfectly placed to talk to those Twitter users about their latest posts without needing to look anything up ever again.

This really isn’t a trick or a hack or something. It’s just a simple principal – talk to your industry’s existing community about what they’re talking about, especially if it relates to what you’re doing.
